When asking potential clientes about their opinion on the current stage of our prototype, we got the following feedback points:
The idea looks interesting, if I could see it working I could consider buying it.
I don't like the idea of the high amount of waste that would be generated by the wipes.
It would be cool if this could work with any sunscreen that I have available at home.
We also got lots of critics regarding the simple design of our product, and how this wasn't showy enough, so we put high priority in trying to improve the design and not have it as simple as we've shown it in previous iterations.
By the end of the semester (aka when the finals versions of both the app and the neural network are ready), both source codes of the app and the neural network with a brief description will be available on my Github.
However it is mainly for... dogs?
Dogs sunwipes. They actually are a thing.
The public, however, found lots of negatives in this.
Low SPF.
Some sunwipes are too dry.
Intended for dog use and not human use.
If on the outside where it is easy to get dirty but hard to clean oneself (for example, in the beach like some pictures they display), there is no way to clean yourself.
In trying to make a less simple design, we realized that most of the sunscreen bottles have an oval-ish design, so we decided to start from there, as this design is also less pointy than our original rectangle-boxy one.
We also decided to make the walls less thick, as this would result in more space available inside and something more aesthetically pleasing for the people that can see it.
On the part where the sun block wipes would go, there is a small hole. The intention for this is for the final consumer to be able to use his or her own sunscreen, as some of them have to use certain brands or models because of specific skin conditions they have, or simply because of preference. This way, we don't limit this part of our market segment in using our product that originally had generic sunscreen.
We also added lids with an outside texture, both for aesthetic reasons and helping our user identify which part of our container is for what (sunwipes vs wet wipes).
The lid with a sun corresponds to the sunwipes, whilst the drops correspond to the wet wipes bit.
Unfortunately, the 3D printing didn't go as well, because for some reason the sunwipes part got covered: we had to cut it with a hot knife, which is why it doesn't look as clean as it should.
