Through a partnership with MedStar Health and Georgetown University, the WISE Center is a multidisciplinary, multi-cultural team of mental health professionals who work to promote improvements in both academic and mental health outcomes.
The team is committed to taking care of the mental well-being of adults so they can best support their students. One of the free tools provided to educators is the Teacher Well-Being Workbook which helps you develop your own personal well-being plan.
Each chapter focuses on important components of well-being, such as physical, occupational, intellectual, social, or emotional well-being. Effective skills and tools for each component are then provided for you to consider to enhance your own well-being.
This guide begins by defining mindfulness and its formal and informal practices. We start there because self-care is exponentially more. The rest of the guide is filled with self-care tips and resources to help you feel healthier and happier in the classroom and beyond.
When children engage in behavior that pushes your buttons, it is important to be intentional in how you respond. Making a plan will help you remain calm when you respond. By being calm, you will be able to objectively observe the child’s behavior and think about what the behavior is communicating. This will help you respond in a way that is supportive of the child. This guide includes strategies that you might use when a child’s behavior pushes your buttons.
