USHA is the voice of the students living in the residence halls, acting as as the liaison between residents and University Housing, the Student Government Association (SGA), and the UCM community. USHA strives to:
Communicate the issues and concerns of residence hall living to University Housing and submits proposals and recommendations regarding policies and facility improvements.
Promote, coordinate and facilitate activities in all facets of on-campus living and contributes to the general welfare of all residents in the residence halls.
Strive to build community in the residence halls and provide on-campus residents with opportunities to enhance their leadership skills, personal growth and social interactions.
If you have any initiatives that you would like to see from SGA, you can contact them directly at sga@ucmo.edu, bring your concerns or ideas to USHA General Body meetings, and/or email them directly to the USHA Executive Director at ushapresident@ucmo.edu.
Any formal member/elected student officer of the United Student Housing Association can write and submit a piece of legislation. To author legislation, or if you have any ideas, please contact the USHA Associate Director at ushancc@ucmo.edu. An example of a piece of legislation is linked here. The USHA Constitution and Bylaws are linked here.

Legislation is incredibly important, and can make a distinct difference in the University of Central Missouri (UCM) community and campus culture. If you want to make a change, or advocate for something that you are passionate, committed, and dedicated to, or want to change a particular policy, legislation is how you would go about that. For instance, Wash Alert, the laundry notification system in the residence halls, was created by a resolution called the Office of Technology Authorization Resolution authored in April 2019 by then-USHA Vice President, Dawson Davis. This piece was authored in conjunction with the Student Government Association (SGA), and a petition with more than 130+ signatures in one (1) week! The power of legislation and voicing your ideas and opinions!
