From conducting this research proposal, I learned how to find relevant sources for a topic that does not have many other papers or articles written about it. I also learned how to constuct complex and focused questions for a chosen research topic. I am researching how UC Davis students feel about their GE requirements, and this proposal gave me a very good idea of how I want to write my research paper. It also allowed me to start brainstorming questions I will ask in the survey that I will conduct later in the quarter. The most challenging part of this proposal was finding sources that were relevant to my topic. From my preliminary research, the topic I chose is not very common, so it took some time to find scholarly sources that give meaningful data and insights for my research. I have had mixed experiences with peer feedback in the past, but this time I actually found the feedback I got from my classmates to be very useful in strengthening my proposal. Overall, I feel like writing this proposal helped me focus my thoughts on my reasearch topic and gave me a strong idea of the steps I need to take to fully complete the research project.
