Hello and welcome back to my blog. Today I read "Shitty First Drafts" by Anne Lamot and "Introduction to Primary Research" by Dana Driscoll. I really resonated with Lamot's words when reading "Shitty First Drafts" because I always feel the pressure when writing my first drafts of any project that it has to be perfect the first try. Sometimes the stress of this expectation makes me end up writting a shitty first draft because I overthink everything. One sentence part of the passage that I appreciated is when Lamott said, "Very few writers really know what they are doing until they've done it. Nor do they go about their business feeling dewy and thrilled." This is good to hear because it makes me realize that everyone is prone to terrible first drafts and that it is actually a good thing. It is a good thing because they are the perfect stepping stones to a great draft. One thing we could do as a writer is to step beck from the keyboard and read our essays from the perspective as a random reader. This allows us to see the flaws that actually matter instead of trying to be perfect, and it allows us to create much better second, third (etc), and final drafts
