F. PPE
Due to increased respiratory illness activity and COVID-19 positivity rates in Alberta, AHS strongly encourages all staff and visitors at our facilities to wear masks and practice diligent hand hygiene. Continuous masking is required in patient care areas under select circumstances, including if patients or their families request it. For more information, please refer to this FAQ.
AHS continues to review guidance on personal protective equipment (PPE). Please adhere to the Routine Practices and Additional Precautions as outlined by the IPC Risk Assessment when making PPE decisions including the use of gowns, masking, and eye protection when treating patients with respiratory illness symptoms. For further guidance, refer to the Joint Statement on PPE. For questions regarding PPE, contact ppe@ahs.ca.
All trainees should stay home if they are sick. If you are unwell, please notify me (mecardjr@ualberta.ca) and your preceptor as soon as possible.
