A Sense of Place

"Having grown up in a small town in central Alberta, this collection of work profoundly resonates with me. A love of the prairie sky is something that I carry in my bones. I find Alberta Gold by Annora Brown particularly magnificent. She was born in Red Deer, Alberta, in 1899, and I grew up in Lacombe, a short distance away. She captures an Alberta I know and love."

- President Bill Flanagan

The University of Alberta occupies a unique location on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River, in the beautiful city of Edmonton, in the province of Alberta. The University of Alberta Museums Art Collection chronicles not only the history of our location, but different artists’ impressions of this northern province and its diverse geography. Whether it is an artist who has made Edmonton home, or visiting from another part of the country or the world, the images provide an individual impression of place.
