Subtle yet detailed, this etching by Joseph van der Gracht depicts the University of Alberta campus from the vantage point of the north side of the City of Edmonton during the 1930s.

Though little is known about the artist, this small print shows the early buildings and surroundings of the university. While the number of buildings has increased, the surrounding river valley of the university continues to be a prominent feature of the campus.
