Exhibition

On the Banks of the River tells the story of the University of Alberta from its establishment in 1908 on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River to the present. The mandate of the University of Alberta Museums Art Collection (UAMAC) is to support the academic mission of the university, and to reflect the history, geography, ideas, and people who have shaped the development of the university. Though only a fraction of the collection can be shown in this online exhibition, its aim is to convey the importance of art in our lives, and the value of a public collection for our community.
