MD Admissions Initiative for Diversity and Equity (MD AIDE)

MD Admissions for Diversity and Equity (MD AIDE) is a medical student-led initiative dedicated to increasing diversity amongst medical school candidates to better reflect and serve the demographics of our communities. Due to the financial costs and requirements of medical school applications, students from lower-income and under-represented backgrounds may face financial and social barriers when applying to MD programs. Our initiative supports Alberta post-secondary students from low-income, First Nations/Métis/Inuit, and/or other underrepresented groups who are interested in applying to medical school. This includes, but is not limited to recent immigrants, persons of colour, persons living with disabilities, and persons from rural areas. We provide free tutoring sessions and resources for the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) and Multiple-Mini Interview (MMI). We also facilitate access to a network of medical students and/or faculty members to serve as mentors to assist participants in career planning.
