AMSCAR

The Alberta Medical Student’s Conference and Retreat (AMSCAR) is a unique, annual event that brings together hundreds of medical students from across Alberta for a three-day medical student conference traditionally held in Alberta’s Rocky Mountains. Throughout the weekend students from both the University of Alberta and University of Calgary participate in a variety of sessions and events aimed at promoting educational and professional development, as well as medical student health and wellness.

The AMSCAR Organizing Committee, comprised of medical students from both the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary, are excited to host our 19th annual Conference in Canmore! Last year’s virtual conference was a huge success, and we’re excited to return to an in-person conference and provide another unique opportunity for medical students in Alberta to join together and learn skills that will enhance both their professional and personal development. Building off the positive feedback we received from those participating in the conference last year, we have begun preparations to host AMSCAR 2022 at the Coast Canmore Hotel and Conference Centre on November 25-27, 2022.

Over 240 medical students from the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary joined us for last year’s conference and we are expecting to maintain strong attendance this year. We are currently planning sessions to take place over the conference weekend, where students may participate in a variety of workshops designed to promote the skills necessary to lead healthy, balanced lives as medical professionals. Additionally, we strive to provide education to assist in dealing with some of the unique challenges they will face as future physicians. Along with learning strategies for practicing health and wellness, students are able to connect with participating organizations and network with their future colleagues from around the province. We look forward to welcoming medical students from across the province to our conference in November, as well as to hear from those who may be interested in joining our team!
