Starlight Performance Camp

Starlight Performance Camp is a FREE summer day camp for children aged 5 to 14 who are living with any chronic illness and/or disability. The camp gathers up to 40 children and it is composed of workshops in gymnastics, cheerleading, dance and fashion. At the end of the day, the children perform in a showcase for their parents alongside local guest performers. All workshops are taught by highly competent and trained instructors. The camp is best for kids who can take part in physical activity and are ambulatory. However, we are aware that some kids may require some assistance, we ask parents to tell us in advance if they anticipate any challenges, that way we can be better prepared. For this reason, the camp also gathers a great number of volunteers, the vast majority of them being medical students as well as a supervising MD. The goal of the camp is to make the kids feel like stars. We know that kids who face daily challenges often feel discouraged and that this often leads to lack of self-confidence. We want them to feel comfortable in groups of like-minded kids, get active, meet role models in the community and introduce them to the world of performance.
