Rural Medicine Interest Group (RMIG)

The Rural Medicine Interest Group (RMIG) is a student-led organization aimed at creating opportunities for all medical students to build clinical skills and exposure in a rural setting. Throughout the year, our group hosts guest speakers who discuss rural specific training opportunities and the unique aspects of practicing in rural settings. Additionally, our group promotes opportunities for students to build on their knowledge through skills workshops and clinical experience in rural communities. Throughout the year, RMIG will also provide information about funding educational opportunities for conferences and University of Alberta led programs such as the Pre-Clinical Networked Medical Education Program (PNME) and the Integrated Community Clerkship (ICC) for second and third year medical students. For individuals who would like more involvement with the group, RMIG offers committee positions for students looking to promote and lead initiatives of their own.
