Research Interest Group

The Research Interest Group (RIG) exists to foster interest in evidence-based medicine, make research accessible to medical students and physicians, and inform students about current research opportunities.

If you're interested in doing summer research, working towards an MD with a special training in research (STIR), completing an MD/PhD, or learning how to analyze primary literature, we have information for you. We also hold events to showcase what a career as a clinician-researcher is like, display your research, and give you the skills to confidently navigate evidence-based medicine.

Events:

  • Information sessions on the MD/Special Training in Research (STIR) + MD/PhD programs

  • Journal Club (Includes an introduction to evaluating research and is useful for the evidence-based medicine sessions in CPR block!)

  • Evidence-based medicine Reviews (covering the EBM content for your physicianship final!)

  • 3-Minute Thesis Competition (For the first time, we're hosting a Faculty of Med & Dent 3-MT Competition for students in professional programs in FoMD)
