Public Health and Preventative Medicine Club

The Public Health Interest Group of the Medical Students' Association aims to supplement the public health content in the undergraduate medical education curriculum by providing opportunities to hear from professionals and students in this field and by encouraging its members to explore how preventive medicine can improve their future practice as health care providers. Our objectives are to:

  • Provide students with information about the importance of incorporating the concepts of population and public health into all areas of practice.

  • Expose students to professionals in the field of public health and to provide an opportunity for students to explore community and preventive medicine as a career option.

  • Explore the importance of interprofessionalism in the field of public health

  • Examine the role of the social determinants of health in public and population health

  • Explore ethics and the law in public health
