POCUS Club

The Point of Care Ultrasound Club or POCUS Club is focused on exposing students to point of care ultrasound techniques that will be interesting and useful to them in clinical practice. PoCUS is applicable in many surgical and medical specialties, such as radiology, internal medicine, emergency medicine, critical care medicine, general surgery, pediatrics and many more. We believe POCUS is a hugely important diagnostic tool that will only become more relevant as the technology becomes more ubiquitous. We also believe that any experience medical students have in getting exposed to ultrasound, learning how to use it and how to diagnose with it will be hugely beneficial to them and to their future patients.

Our club offers talks from leaders in the field of POCUS on its role in different aspects of healthcare and what the future of POCUS for clinicians looks like. These talks also allow club members to learn and discuss image gathering for specific areas of the body.

We also offer educational seminars and hands-on sessions where members can learn from experienced physicians and sonographers, and practice acquiring the images using either Butterfly IQ or standard ultrasound probes. These sessions accompanied by lectures from physicians and sonographers help augment student learning. Keep an eye out for our collaboration events with other clubs that will incorporate POCUS as well!
