The Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Club is dedicated to introducing students to point of care ultrasound techniques that are both fascinating and highly useful in clinical practice. POCUS is applicable across nearly all surgical and medical specialties, including radiology, internal medicine, emergency medicine, critical care, general surgery, pediatrics, and many more. We believe POCUS is an essential diagnostic tool that will only become more significant as the technology becomes increasingly accessible. Gaining experience with ultrasound—learning how to use it and diagnose with it—will be immensely beneficial for both medical students and their future patients.
Our club offers talks from leaders in the field of POCUS, exploring its role in various aspects of healthcare and discussing its future in clinical practice. We also provide educational seminars and hands-on sessions where members can learn from experienced physicians and sonographers, practicing image acquisition with either Butterfly iQ or standard ultrasound probes. These sessions are complemented by lectures and informal learning materials provided by physicians, sonographers, and your POCUS club leads.
