Pain Medicine Club

The Pain Medicine club is focused on bringing students together through activities, events and discussions to facilitate a better understanding about the topic of pain and the various methods of pain management within the Canadian healthcare system.


Our aims:

1)To introduce medical students to the unique subspecialty of pain medicine in Canada and to educate them on the different avenues in becoming a pain specialist

2)To explore the complex and multidisciplinary approach to pain management and the physician's role

3)To encourage a greater appreciation for patients dealing with chronic pain

What we offer?

· Shadowing database for students who are interested in a career in pain medicine

· Connections to the Pain Society of Alberta and Canadian Pain Society (potential opportunities to become a member, attend conferences)

Types of events we may host:

· Q&A panels with residents and staff working in pain medicine

· Talks from faculty who are performing cutting edge research in the field of pain medicine

· Patient experience presentations where patients living with chronic or neuropathic pain share their illness experience and stories

· Collaborative events with other clubs to host interdisciplinary talks related to pain medicine
