Medical Education Interest Group

The Medical Education Interest Group (MEIG) is committed to promoting medical education among medical students at the University of Alberta. Our aims are to connect medical students to learning and research opportunities in medical education, to facilitate interactions and mentoring experiences between medical students and clinician educators, and to foster interest in medical education among medical students and promote the development of future clinician-educators. The MEIG hopes to provide medical students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences to incorporate medical education into their careers.

Activities:

- A database for opportunities in medical education (creating med ed content, teaching experiences, research experiences, conferences, getting involved with curriculum, skill development) (MedEd Student Database)

- Talks from clinician-educators (How to Incorporate Teaching into your Career?)

- Talks from upper class medical students about studying strategies, extracurriculars, and tips for surviving all four years of medical school. They will be happy to answer any questions you have! (Success in Medical School)

- Funding for students to attend Med Ed conferences

If you have any questions feel free to contact Saveen Sidhoo (sidhoo@ualberta.ca) and Sharan Aulakh (sharan@ualberta.ca).
