Select Intercultural Experience.
Select Study, Work or Volunteer Abroad.
Click “Create Claim”.
Insert number of days abroad and click "Save".
To account for the optional, in-person pre-departure orientation:
If you attended, include 14 additional days to your days abroad.
If you did not attend, include 13 additional days to your days abroad.
Drag a file into the dotted area or click the dotted area to add an attachment (required). Acceptable attachments include:
If you participated in a U of A study abroad, which includes EXCH 800 or other courses, no attachments are required. However, upon review of your claim, you you may be asked to provide a transcript; it is your decision to attach a transcript or not.
For study abroad that is not organized by the U of A, or for work or volunteer abroad, include a completed intercultural experience form (located at the bottom of this page).
An employment contract, confirming the length and location of your placement.
Include a message in the Summary correspondence box and click “Send” (optional).
Click “Submit”.
Select Intercultural Experience.
Select Study, Work or Volunteer Abroad.
Click “Create Claim”.
Insert 42 days and, in the Summary box, state that you are an international student and where you are from. Click “Save”.
Click “Submit”.
Upon completion of 100 hours of service:
Select Intercultural Experience.
Select “Service with a Cross-Cultural Agency”.
NOTE: If you have volunteered or written a reflection to make up time to meet the 6-week threshold for Study, Work or Volunteer Abroad, follow the "Study, work or volunteer abroad" instructions above.
NOTE: If you have volunteered or written a reflection to make up time to meet the 100-hour threshold for Service with a Cross-Cultural Agency in Canada, follow the instructions below.
Click “Create Claim”.
Insert number of hours.
Drag a completed intercultural experience form (located at the bottom of this page) into the dotted area or click on Choose Files to select and attach attach it (required).
Include a message in the Summary box (optional).
Click “Submit”.
Select Intercultural Experience.
Select International House.
Click “Create Claim”.
Insert start date and end date of your residency in International House.
Click Choose Files to attach a letter from the Global Education Specialist (I-House) that confirms you have completed all of your GLIDe reflections. Contact ihouse@ualberta.ca for more information on GLIDe or the confirmation letter.
Click “Submit”.
