Select 2 Co-curricular & Communication.
Select Co-curricular Activities.
Click “Create Claim”.
Select Co-curricular Claim Type from the drop down box at the top.
If you selected Attended Approved Event (NOTE: A claim must be submitted for each approved event that you attend):
Select the event from the list of events below.
Click “Claim Attendance”.
Answer the questions in the Description and Reflections boxes in the portal. *NOTE: It is highly recommended to write and save your reflections outside of the CIL portal and paste them into your claim, since logging out of the portal without submitting your claim does not save your work in the portal, or the portal can time out and you'll lose your work.
Please review "A Short Guide to Co-curricular Reflection" (located at the bottom of this page) before submitting your reflection.
Include a message in the correspondence box below and click “send” (optional).
Click “Submit”.
If you selected Served as an Executive:
Input the name of the student group that you served with, the mandate of that group, your title and the dates you served.
Click “Submit”.
Click on Choose Files and click on Open to attach a completed co-curricular activity form (located at the bottom of this page) (required).
Include a message in the correspondence box below and click “Send” (optional).
Click “Submit”.
If you selected Volunteered with UAI Program:
Input the volunteer program that you were involved with and the point value.
Click “Submit”.
Click on Choose Files and click on Open to attach a completed co-curricular activity form (located at the bottom of this page) (required).
Include a message in the correspondence box below and click “send” (optional).
Click “Submit”.
Select 2 Co-curricular & Communication.
Select Second Language Competency.
Click “Create Claim”.
Describe how you have fulfilled the second language requirement. (NOTE: If you are an international student whose primary and secondary schooling was in a language other than English, please indicate this in your description. In these special cases only, supporting documentation is not required.)
Click on Choose Files and click on Open to attach at least one (1) of the following attachments (required). Acceptable attachments include:
U of A unofficial or official transcript that shows university courses taken in another language or 6 credits of language study in a single language (NOTE: You must complete all 6 credits before making a claim).
Certificate or letter confirming the completion of a language immersion program, like Explore or DELF (the document must indicate the location and dates of the program).
In the case of language immersion in high school, a high school transcript or detailed academic report.
Other documentation, if discussed with and agreed to by the CIL office.
Click “Submit”.
Select 2 Co-curricular & Communication.
Select Intercultural Communication Training.
Click “Create Claim”.
Select Communication Claim Type from the drop down box at the top.
If you selected Global Learning Workshop:
Select the date of intercultural training you attended from the list of events.
Click “Claim Attended”.
If you selected Credit in U of A Intercultural Communication Courses:
In the Description box, input the name of the course and term taken.
Click on "Choose Files".
Click on Choose Files and click on Open to attach your transcript.
Click “Submit”.
