Design and develop technology-enhanced educational or training materials and content (e.g., curriculum, instruction, performance supports) to maximize motivation, engagement, efficacy, and efficiency with respect to learning.
This assignment was one of my first instances where I had to officially design and plan a more formal piece of instruction. During the Instructional Design course, I developed a unit to implement correct documentation at my place of employment, where I did a needs analysis and then created the unit based on those results. Sections in this project included need analysis, learner analysis, design rationale, learning objectives, learning materials, and an instructor implementation guide. This assignment relates to the Design and Development PLO as I created all of the materials and content for training purposes for the teachers at my place of employment to maximize efficiency when it came to documentation.
Caring for Our Ocean Animals was a website I created during my project-based learning course. It was designed to help teachers get students excited about writing while they learn about ocean animals and ocean preservation for younger students. As part of the unit, a student learning guide was created as part of the materials needed for the unit/lesson plan. It laid out all the unit's learning outcomes, assessments, instructional strategies, and final products. This part of the website relates to the Design and Development PLO because the content was created so the teacher can be efficient when teaching this particular unit, as everything needed for the unit was designed and listed on this page.
During my Graphic Design for Learning course, my final project consisted of putting together multiple pieces of work into a more significant project that I transformed into the TCC Onboarding Training website. It had two modules that dealt with how to communicate with the children, which consisted of job aids and infographics based on information discussed during the training of a new employee. I designed and developed the curriculum in which the training content flows, as well as all the job aids and infographics that contained all the training content needed for the purpose of this training module for the new employees. It was created to provide a more efficient way to consistently and effectively onboard everyone in the same way. All of these things relate to the Design and Development PLO.
