Read a little. Think together. We hope you’ll join us.
This year's "slow read" features Ken Bain’s What the Best College Teachers Do. We’ll read just a few chapters at a time, then gather for conversation about teaching, learning, and what Bain’s ideas might mean for our own work with students.
No rush, no pressure to finish the book all at once--just slowing reading and three gatherings for lunch and conversation about a few chapters at a time.
On Mon, Nov 2, from 12–1 pm, we'll gather on the Denton campus in the Faculty Commons (MCL 8th floor), with Zoom available for Houston and Dallas. We'll start by reading Chapters 1 and 2.
On Fri, Jan 8, 12-pm, we'll gather to discuss chapters 3 through 6 on.
On Fri, April 2, 12-1pm, we'll finish the book (chapter 7 and Epilogue).
The book is available online through the TWU library (here or at https://bit.ly/WTBCTD). We'll also have a limited number of hard copies available at the November gathering.
