Standards:

• TTESS Dimension 1.1 Standards and Alignment. The teacher designs clear, well-organized, sequential lessons that reflect best practice, align with standards and are appropriate for diverse learners.

• TTESS Dimension 1.4 Activities. The teacher plans engaging, flexible lessons that encourage higher-order thinking, persistence and achievement.

• TTESS Standard #7: Planning for Instruction. The teacher plans instruction that supports every student in meeting rigorous learning goals by drawing upon knowledge of content areas, curriculum, cross-disciplinary skills, and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of learners and the community context.

The teacher designs clear and organized lessons based on state standards and caters to diverse learners that are engaging and encourages high level thinking, consistency, and output, and plans instructions that scaffolds off of prior knowledge of related content, using skills that apply in various disciplines, keeping in mind the community context.

This Elementary Lesson Sequence for 4th grade demonstrates clear and organized lessons based on state standards that scaffolds off of prior knowledge related to content. Focusing on five different musical components and their progression week by week. The fully fleshed out lesson plan for week one is located in content knowledge and demonstrates how the lesson plan caters to diverse learners, encouraging high levels of thinking and develops skills used in across curriculum.
