Standards:

• TTESS Dimension 1.3 Knowledge of Students. Through knowledge of students and proven practices, the teacher ensures high levels of learning, social-emotional development and achievement for all students.

• TTESS Dimension 2.1 Achieving Expectations. The teacher supports all learners in their pursuit of high levels of academic and social-emotional success.

• INTASC Standard #1: Learner Development—The teacher understands how learners grow and develop, recognizing that patterns of learning and development vary individually within and across the cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical areas, and designs and implements developmentally appropriate and challenging learning experiences.

• INTASC Standard #2: Learning Differences—The teacher uses understanding of individual differences and diverse cultures and communities to ensure inclusive learning environments that enable each learner to meet high standards.

Standard Interpretation:

The teacher will have comprehensive knowledge of various learning needs and development of their students and will be prepared to set high expectations for the success of all students. Teachers will support cognitive, social and emotional, linguistic, and physical needs of students to further the learning process of all students. Teachers will demonstrate an understanding of diverse cultures and communities to differentiate learning for students in a variety of formats and purposes.
