Dear First Grade Families,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!  My name is Katie Long and I am excited to be your child's first grade teacher this school year! This is my 6th year teaching and my 2nd at The Villages Charter School.  I have a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Old Dominion University. 

I just celebrated my 3rd wedding anniversary in June. My husband and I have 2 dogs and 3 cats. We moved from Virginia the summer of 2023.  

I love to travel, hang out at the beach, and read books. I spend a lot of time supporting my husband on the golf course. 

First grade is a fun year.  I am looking forward to a successful year!  I believe that you and I are a team, working together to help your child develop emotionally and academically.  You are the most important person in your child’s life and you are also a teacher in your child’s life.  I know if we work together and communicate, your child will have a very successful year!
