Objective: 7.4.R.1 Students will increase knowledge of academic, domain-appropriate, grade level vocabulary to infer meaning of grade-level text.

Lesson: Listening for Syllables, Adding Endings, Classifying Word Groups, Matching Synonyms (Annabel Lee & Morella)

Assignment: 1. Say each of the words below to yourself. Decide how many syllables are in each word; 2. Add an ending to the designated words to make them fit the sentence; 3. Decide if the italicized part of the sentence tells where, when or how; 4. Choose a synonym from the word box to replace the italicized word.

Lesson: 1. Understanding Special Meanings; 2. Using Cloze Reading; 3. Remembering Details (The Cask of Amontillado).

Assignment: 1. Read the following sentences and write an explanation of the meaning of the italicized word. 2. Use the words in the word box to fill in the blanks. 3. Write answers to questions about the main character.
