Lesson: 1. Choosing Correct Meanings; Using Guide Words; Creating a Character Assignments: Assignments: 1. Worksheets and whole class review. The italicized word in each of the sentences below has several meanings. Some of the meanings are listed in the Glossary. Decide which meanings the word has in the sentence. Then write the number of your choice on the blank. 2. Put the words in the word box in alphabetical order under the correct guide words. 3. Imagine that you are one of Petruchio’s servants in “The Taming of the Shrew.” Petruchio recently brought his new wife home. You’re being interviewed by a newspaper reporter. Write your answers to the reporter’s questions on the lines provided.

Lesson: Determing Feelings; Discovering Meaning Through Context; Recalling an Event

Assignments: Worksheets and whole class review. 1. Each of the sentences below provides clues to a character’s feelings in THE TAMING OF THE SHREW. 2. Think about an event that happened in TALES OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE: THE COMEDIES. Then describe one of those events to someone who has not read the book. Remember to include details about the characters, plot and so on.
