Technology and the use of computing is now an integral part of all that we do, from gaming to work, travel and shopping. Therefore, at Tuckswood, we strive to educate our pupils to use technology safely, positively and responsibly.
Our knowledge rich curriculum is balanced with the opportunity for pupils to apply their knowledge creatively which will in turn help our pupils become skillful computer scientists.
We recognise that the best prevention for a lot of issues we currently see with technology/social media is through education. Building knowledge in this subject will allow pupils to effectively demonstrate their learning through creative use of technology. We also recognise that technology can allow pupils to share their learning in creative ways and the opportunities technology can provide for our pupils now and in the future.
We are implementing the Teach Computing Curriculum, which has been created by subject experts, using the latest pedagogical research and teacher feedback. By implementing this Government funded resource, we aim to prepare our pupils for KS3, KS4 and beyond.
Subject Enrichment
Computing is becoming increasingly important in working lives and it is important that children leave school with a competent understanding of technology. In school we provide children with the opportunity to learn key skills such as collaborative working and coding skills. There are also opportunities over the year to produce written work on a Chromebook and publish their final pieces.
