Curriculum at Tuckswood

Introduction

At Tuckswood Academy and Nursery, we offer a curriculum which is broad and balanced and which builds on the knowledge, understanding and skills of all children, as they progress through each year group.

The curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and it is bespoke to ensure that it includes other experiences and opportunities which best meet the needs of all children in our school.  Our curriculum provides children with the key knowledge and thinking skills in all subjects to provide them with the foundations for life after primary school. For example, in History children will use the knowledge taught to be able to think like a historian and compare evidence. We believe that every child can achieve exceptional things.

Crucial to our children's success is their language development - the broadening of their vocabulary, the transitions from speaking and listening to reading and writing, and their enjoyment of language. Language will support our children to fulfil their potential both within the education system and in the wider world.

Through our Tuckswood 5 and PSHE curriculum children learn how to be considerate global citizens and the skills they need to keep themselves safe, have respect for others and be effective and lifelong learners.

We know that children cannot aspire to things they have not encountered.

The Tuckswood 50, alongside our curriculum, is designed to open up possibilities to pupils in terms of later education, jobs and life choices.
