Towcester Rotary Club Twinning Jan / Feb 2026
Towcester Rotary club have twinned with the Rotary Club of Willich, in Germany.
Rotary Club Willich was founded in 2005 - the year of Rotary International's 100th birthday. Willich is a town with a population of about 50.000 people, it is situated in between Düsseldorf, Mönchengladbach and Krefeld. Like Towcester the Willich Club is a very active, with a good social atmosphere and involvement in many projects, both local and international, actively helping those less fortunate than themselves.
The relationship started with a chance meeting of a Rotarian from each club on board a ship on the Adriatic Sea, followed by interclub “Zoom” meetings. Currently we are the putting together their first visit, in January 26, consisting of a large group of Willich Rotarians for a long weekend in Towcester, when they will attend the “Towcester Proms”, plus a whole range of other places of interest.
Members of the Rotary club of Willich arrived on Friday evening 30th January 2026, we moved our normal Thursday meeting that week to the Saturday evening (at the Saracens), during the day on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday they visited places of interest in and around Towcester. They attended the Last Night of the Proms on the Sunday evening, with a visit to Stowe Gardens and a final English Afternoon Tea before they flew home on the Monday.
A group of Towcester Rotarians plans to visit Willich later in the year.
