Your transition to teaching truly begins by having a deeper understanding of what you need to show up in a classroom for your students. At ITF, we want you to spend time during enrollment getting to know yourself and setting up some strategies to prevent burnout from completing enrollment tasks and diving into Pre-Service Training.
The National Wellness Institute promotes Six Dimensions of wellness: emotional, occupational, physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual. Addressing all six dimensions of wellness in our lives builds a holistic sense of wellness and fulfillment.
Occupational: Reflecting on TNTP's Essential Traits of Great Teachers, completing program tasks, getting organized, communicating with ITF staff, learning about the Indianapolis education landscape
Physical: Scheduling time in the day to take a break (practicing these in 30 minutes increments can help prepare for the classroom), meal prepping, drinking water, taking vitamins, and getting plenty of sleep
Social: Joining the 2024 Cohort Facebook Group, networking with ITF Alumni, attending a Site Visit, following ITF on Social Media
Intellectual: Diving into the PST Core Texts, doing research on your content area, visiting TNTP's publication page.
Spiritual: Taking time to reflect on your day, keeping a journal of how you feel, taking time to get to know your needs, attending your place of worship (if applicable)
Emotional: Reading the Introduction through chapter 2 of Onward by Elena Aguilar, taking a personality assessment
