This term we have introduced a new English writing scheme for children in Year 1 to 6. We are only three weeks into the teaching of it and already we are seeing that the children are becoming excited and more engaged with the writing process. The way we teach writing hasn't changed significantly; however what the scheme does do is ensure that children know the purpose and audience of their writing and links to exciting and engaging texts. Our School Improvement Person and Governors have both been into school this week to see English teaching in action and have commented on how engaged the children are and the improvements they can see in the quality of their writing.
Thank-you to the Year 6 families who attended our Learn Together event this week. It was great to see the children and adults working together and having fun!
Parents evening appointments are available to book:
Parents Evening: 11th and 12th February 2025
SEND Parents Evening: 11th March 2025
Last parents evening the website based booking system for parents evening did not work well therefore we are trying a new system. In order to book an appointment please call or drop into the office, they will book the appointment for you there and then and ensure (where possible) that your appointments are as close as possible for siblings.
Whole School Attendance: 94.04%
Attendance this week: 92.43%
There are a lot of bugs around at the moment. StudyBugs tells us that the majority of absence is due to children having a temperature. If a child has a temperature, this means they are fighting an infection and so it is usually best for them to stay at home until it returns to normal.
If your child has a cold but no temperature, send them to school. Being with their friends and learning will take their mind off the cold!
Please remind your children to wash their hands regularly and to catch sneezes and coughs in their hands (then wash them) or a tissue. This helps to reduce the spread of germs.
Oracy Endpoint Week takes place the week beginning 3rd February. Please see dates for each Year group:
Monday 3rd February - Year 2
Tuesday 4th February - Reception
Wednesday 5th February - Year 4 and Year 6
Thursday 6th February - Year 5
Friday 7th February - Year 3 and Year 1.
All oracy events will begin at 2:45pm, please come to the main reception and we will guide you to the appropriate classroom.
As part of an active lifestyle we encourage the children to walk, scoot or cycle to school. If your children are scooting or cycling to school there are a number of things we would like families to remind their children of:
When riding a bike or scooter a helmet should be worn.
For those children who are older bikes and scooters should not be ridden on the pavements.
Bikes and scooters are not permitted to be ridden anywhere on the school site - this includes outside the Neighbourhood Centre area and carparks.
We will be reinforcing these messages on Monday with the main priority of following the Tithe Farm Way by keeping everyone (pedestrians and cyclists) safe.
For anyone who persists in riding bikes or scooters on school property we will contact families and ask that they are not brought to school.
