School Governance Committee
Old Newton Primary School is currently looking for two new community governors to join our Governing Body. We are looking for passionate and skilled individuals to contribute to the strategic direction of the school. We particularly welcome applications from individuals with marketing skills (including experience of using social media to promote public services) to compliment our current membership. This is not an essential requirement and more important is your commitment to the school community and ongoing development of the school.
Role description:
Actively participate in six school governance committee meetings a year. This includes looking at data and evidence to ask questions, reviewing budgets and contributing to how money is spent and addressing a range of education matters.
Four year commitment to the role.
Occasional visits to the school and listening to the views of children and staff.
We are looking for the following core skills:
Ability to work collaboratively and thoughtfully as part of the leadership team
Confident to contribute to discussions in a committee setting
Support and challenge (be a ‘critical’ friend) the headteacher and school to improve for children and staff
Benefits:
This is a rewarding role that makes a difference to the lives of young people in the local community
Professional development
Access to a range of training to support you in the role
This is unremunerated and reasonable expenses can be paid in line with the policy.
If you would like to apply, or are interested but have questions please get in touch for an informal discussion. Please contact: Phillipa Alston, Chair of Governors onchair@tilian.org.uk or Jo Lockyear, Headteacher oldnewton@tilian.org.uk
