A: There are a few different ways we can accumulate ammonia. One of them is if we're not digesting our proteins correctly. Part of the adrenal program focuses on shifting you to more of a rest and digest process so that you can digest your proteins a little bit better.
Some people might have an infection like H. pylori, which can be an important trigger for Hashimoto's and could then lead to ammonia issues. Some people might have the CBS gene mutation, which can cause us to overproduce ammonia. Constipation definitely leads to ammonia recirculation and production. The few things I focus on in this program for ammonia are addressing constipation with magnesium citrate. Carnitine clears out ammonia out of the body really well, as does saccharomyces boulardii.
There are some additional things that I focus on, that are some advanced strategies. One of them is something known as ornithine, which can be really helpful for clearing ammonia out of the body.
