A: Some of the symptoms of adrenal issues are feeling tired despite adequate sleep, feeling overwhelmed, trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. However, feeling overwhelmed or having difficulty staying asleep or falling asleep could also be related to a progesterone deficiency, which may happen in perimenopause. Difficulty getting up in the morning, dependency on caffeine, craving for salty foods, increased effort required for everyday activities, exercise intolerance, low blood pressure, feeling faint, feeling dizzy when getting up quickly, feeling worse after skipping meals might be all adrenal issues.
Feeling easily startled could be a perimenopause issue. People tend to be more anxious during perimenopause. Mental fog or trouble concentrating could be either due to adrenals or perimenopause. Diarrhea and constipation could be either one as well. Low blood sugar, decreased sex drive, decreased ability to handle stress, longer healing time, mild depression, increased PMS, reduced productivity, poor memory, reduced ability to make decisions, and less enjoyment in life could be related to progesterone issues / perimenopause or the adrenals.
Some other symptoms of perimenopause are hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, urinary urgency, trouble sleeping, emotional changes, dry skin, dry eyes, dry mouth, breast tenderness, worsening of PMS, irregular periods, periods that are heavier or lighter than usual, racing heartbeat, headaches, joint and muscle aches, changes in libido, trouble concentrating, memory lapses, weight gain, hair loss or thinning.
