A: Actually, we have a proton pump inhibitor taper protocol that I used to share with my clients, and now I am sharing it with you. It's a chart that goes week by week, and you would also start on something like Pepcid, an H2 blocker, around the same time, because you can have rebound reflux when you get off of the proton pump inhibitor, which is what your medication is considered. You would essentially go off of the proton pump inhibitor and get on a medication like Pepcid. Then you would wean off the Pepcid slowly because that doesn't cause the rebound reflux.
It's exciting to hear that reflux got better. If you could share what helped you, it would be fantastic. I wrote an article about how going dairy-free helped my reflux. I had acid reflux for so many years, and it woke me up during the night. I was on so many medications, and it was just so frustrating. Nothing helped. Exercise made it worse, talking, public speaking made it worse, I couldn't drink wine, I couldn't have coffee, etc. Now it's gone. I did have an interesting flare-up with it when I had H. pylori. So, that's often a root cause of that too.
I would love to hear your story and what you think has helped you the most.
