A: You could try adding other types enzymes to see if they help. Then you would take the veggie enzymes with raw vegetables or any vegetables you have a hard time digesting. Pancreatic enzymes can be taken with higher fat meals. You could give that a try and see if it helps, but your symptoms may also be due to a gut infection, which is common in those with Hashimoto’s. Something like SIBO could cause this type of symptom. If you find that the enzymes are not working, then this may be something you would want to test for, along with other gut infections. Here’s Dr. Wentz’s article on SIBO and also to the one on gut health.
Speaking of gut health, you may be interested in the Gut Recovery Program, which launches twice a year. This is often a next step to elevate the healing journey for our ATP members. The Gut Recovery Program is a very thorough and comprehensive 15-week deep dive that will teach you how to nourish and heal your gut. This program focuses on total gut restoration, addressing all kinds of issues, including gut infections, and going well beyond the standard recommendations of “take probiotics and drink bone broth.” Dr. Wentz created the Gut Recovery Program to bring healing to those who have tried it all and are still looking for answers. If you are interested, please make sure you are signed up for emails, as information will be coming out in the next few weeks regarding that program. I’ll also have the team link the landing page for the program, if you want to read more about it.
