A: Generally, if you're taking amino acids, you should be able to meet your requirement that you would otherwise be met with protein, but make sure you're still getting enough. Amino acids are building blocks of protein, and protein turns into amino acids in the body. There are ways to provide amino acids directly and hopefully that's working well for you.
I would like to know what kind of amino acid supplements you are taking. If you're taking separate single amino acids, for example L-tyrosine supplements, it’s different than if you're taking a whole amino acid formula that contains all the amino acids. Therefore, I think it would be okay to have the protein powder, but you may want to check with your practitioner to adjust it.
In some cases I have recommended for people to use amino acid powders or elemental diets as their source of protein when they have severe digestive issues.
