A: I would say you’re going to want to give it about 3 months at least, to two years, depending on your level of adrenal fatigue. Sometimes though, your adrenals may not be low because of your adrenals, but because of your pituitary. A lot of times that manifests as not just low adrenals, not just low cortisol, but also as a person with a low TSH, and then low Free T3 and Free T4. And, sometimes they may have low female hormones. In that case, rather than doing the hydrocortisone or adrenal glandular, it may actually help to take pituitary or hypothalamic glandular. If your doctor has access to it, the DUTCH urine test can test for that. It tests your adrenal metabolite breakdown. It’s usually something that I don’t recommend as a first line adrenal test to my clients because it’s expensive. But, it’s more of an advanced test; when we have people who are struggling with getting better on the standard adrenal protocols that I recommend, and people who have low TSH. So, that’s something that I would recommend that you do. If your doctor doesn’t have access to that test, you can order it here.
