A: If you have autoimmune hyperthyroidism that results in your TSH being low, myo-inositol can act in an adaptogenic way, helping balance your blood sugar, which is a really big trigger for autoimmune inflammation. Then you're less likely to have that trigger on board. Myo-inositol can help when a person's TSH is too low or too high.
That said, if you are already taking thyroid medications, one of the things that I have seen is that when people bring myo-inositol on board, they may require less thyroid medication, and so they can become overmedicated and need to lower their dosage of medications. If you haven’t tested your thyroid levels in a while and currently you could potentially be overmedicated, I would recommend checking your levels and adjusting your thyroid meds accordingly before introducing myo-inositol. Myo-inositol can be very helpful for your thyroid function, but it can also cause you to be overmedicated, so you might need to track your levels and potentially reduce the dosage of your thyroid meds under the supervision of your practitioner.
