A: Yes, you can absolutely add the myo-inositol to the mix as well, and hopefully you'll see benefits, such as your TSH improving and your thyroid antibodies reducing.
For those of you new to functional nutrition, selenium and myo-inositol both have benefits for thyroid health, and recent research has shown that they seem to work in synergy with each other. So, if you take selenium by itself, you get a certain amount of benefit, then if you take myo-inositol by itself, you get a certain amount of benefit as well, but when you take them together those benefits increase considerably.
The general dose for myo-inositol is around 600 mg, while for selenium, it’s anywhere from 83 to 200 micrograms. So, I think you should be okay taking 200 micrograms of selenium along with your myo-inositol. Of course, see how you feel and listen to your body.
I have also created a selenium with myo-inositol supplement that is called Selenium + Myo-Inositol. It contains 83 micrograms of selenium and then 600 milligrams of myo-inositol. The reason why I put a little less selenium in this supplement is because some people tend to have adverse reactions to selenium when it’s in excessively high amounts, and also because this was actually the dose that was studied in the clinical trials for these two supplements being used in synergy. So, when you use selenium by itself, usually you need at least 200 micrograms, but when you use it together with myo-inositol, you can dose it as low as 83 micrograms.
