A: Most of the dietary interventions in the program are very compatible with pregnancy. Adrenal adaptogens are generally not recommended for use during pregnancy. So, you may want to work with your practitioner to decide what you should discontinue. Magnesium tends to be pretty safe in general for pregnancy, but again, check with your
practitioner. Boulardii and probiotics are also generally pretty safe to utilize during pregnancy. Inositol is actually sometimes used for women with gestational diabetes.
Carnitine can actually be used as a supplement during pregnancy. Women can become deficient in it, and it is part of recommendations sometimes; it's recommended by functional medicine practitioners. Again, check with your doctor on all of these, of course. And then the electrolytes are also generally pretty safe. However, I do recommend checking with your practitioner on that as well.
You may benefit from doing a prenatal vitamin and fish oil. Perhaps these are some additional recommendations. Also, make sure that you test your thyroid as soon as possible, and if you are on thyroid medication, you may need to increase your dose as soon as possible. Hopefully, you're checking in with your doctor on this.
I actually got pregnant when I was doing my adrenal protocol as well, and I was on pregnenolone and adaptogens, and I stopped those right away. I'm not sure how old you are, but progesterone may be helpful. Some women utilize progesterone to help prevent miscarriage. Also, some women utilize selenium during pregnancy with Hashimoto's, and also vitamin D.
Mary Showman and the Hypothyroid Mom have a book about pregnancy with hypothyroidism that you may find helpful. I'm also linking my article on pregnancy and Hashimoto’s.
