Q: Will food sensitivity testing be accurate when we have been eliminating so many different foods? I have been GF, DF, SF for a few years, and obviously now, the foods we have been avoiding through this program. Any thoughts?
A: If you are using the Alletess test, it can pick up on food sensitivities regardless of if you ate them recently or not. MyMedLab (a third-party provider that you can order the Alletess test through) has a general statement that IgG antibodies are only produced whenever a food has been eaten, and the half-life of IgG antibodies is about 28 days, suggesting that the foods would need to have been eaten recently. However, I haven’t necessarily found this to be the case. I’ve seen results where people haven't eaten foods on the test, but still come back sensitive to them. In our direct communications with Alletess lab, they have also clarified that this depends on the person's immune system, and some people will test positive for foods they have not been eating.
