Q: My TgAb and TPO antibodies are high - currently 611 and 22. I don't have any infections. My worst complaints are dry skin, unless I take omega 3, and I wake up at night. I take 25 mcg of T4 and T3. I don’t convert T4 to T3 very well.
A: You provided a little bit of your background, including growing up on a farm, and you had high levels of beta glucuronidase and then you were using harsh insecticides, and you have ridges on your fingernails; also selenium helped, and your thyroglobulin antibodies are higher than your TPO antibodies; you're waking up in the middle of the night, and the myo-inositol didn't help.
That whole picture to me is a symptom of toxicity in your body. Waking up in the middle of the night can be a blood sugar issue or a liver issue. For you, I'm guessing it would be a liver issue. Beta glucuronidase: glucuronidation is one way the liver gets rid of things, so that's a liver metabolic path and looks like that's backlogged. The ridges on the fingernails are a sign of potential toxicity. The reaction to tuna is kind of odd because that's a high-mercury fish, and then also the insecticides would be a red flag for me, as well as the high thyroglobulin antibodies. In my opinion, these would be all red flags for toxins.
I would recommend looking into our liver support program, if you haven't done that. It’s called the Root Cause Reset. It may give you some help. The liver program focuses on using some supportive detox supplements, including calcium-D-glucarate. The Liver Reset powder that is recommended for that program, contains a whole host of various supplements and substances that can help support the liver's detoxification capabilities.
Then we also recommend things like saunas throughout the process, to help mobilize some of those toxins in a safer way. I would recommend being careful with something like heavy metal chelation or those kinds of therapies because sometimes they can pull out the toxins and then recirculate them. I prefer to focus on gentle liver support as the best strategy for that, and saunas along with the supplements that support the detox pathways, which are the most gentle ways that I found to help that. I have that information in my HSMP program, and then it's also in my Hashimoto's Protocol book.
There’s another thing, but I'm not sure I would recommend that for you at this time, just because you were exposed to insecticides and pesticides. There is a test by Great Plains Lab; it's a non-metal toxic profile. It's a urine test that shows some of the insecticides and pesticides, but to be honest, a lot of the recommendations they have in case your toxic levels are elevated in a certain substance are along the lines of a sauna, N-acetyl Cysteine supplements, and liver supportive nutrients, which I already do in the liver program. So, if it's helpful for you to see that on paper and maybe track your progress while you support your liver and try to get rid of the toxins, it might be a good idea to see if you have a root cause or not. It's one of those tests I run for myself– I do a lot of different testing– and also for many of my clients that really love to do testing. However, from a practical standpoint, a lot of times, it just makes sense to do saunas and support your liver pathways. Hopefully that helps.
