Q: I woke up twice yesterday in the middle of the night with my clothes SOAKED from sweating, however I was cold. I took my temperature and it registered 95.0
I also felt weak & shaky and was experiencing heart palpitations. Last week, I asked my doctor if I could have my thyroid tested because I have been experiencing extreme cold intolerance. I suspected I was over-medicated as a result of body absorbing my medications better due to the Reset. My labs came back yesterday and my TSH is very low. I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow. I’ve included the labs. I’m just wondering what your thoughts and recommendations are.
A: It does look like your TSH is suppressed. In some cases if you have Celiac disease or dairy sensitivity and you remove dairy and gluten from your diet, you're going to absorb your medications much better. So you may need to lower your dose of thyroid medications. If you've quit coffee that can happen too, and also if you just adjust your supplement intake.
So in some cases people's thyroid function does come back on board, and you're very wise to be checking in with your doctor and monitoring your thyroid function. We do recommend that throughout the program as lifestyle changes can make your thyroid work better. It's why you're here: to feel better and hopefully not need a higher and higher dosage of thyroid medications over time. I will say not everybody can get off of thyroid medications, but there are some people that may require lower dosages or may not have a requirement for thyroid medication. So, it's always recommended to test to make sure that you're not being overmedicated.
Looking through your labs, I did notice that you had the Epstein-Barr virus reactivated, so that means it's active and replicating. The early antigen test was activated, and I'm not sure if that would be responsible for you waking up with your clothes soaked from sweating. It sounds like maybe you had a fever followed by chills and that can be a symptom of Epstein-Barr virus. I definitely would recommend that you check in with your doctor on that. You may also want to read my article on Epstein-Barr. You need very high doses of vitamin C like we’re doing throughout the program; it’s helpful for the Epstein-Barr virus. Taking vitamin D supplements, methylation support, and herbal protocols (e.g., lomatium) can also be helpful. I would also consider, consider looking into some of the herbal protocols. Of course, consult your doctor and practitioner on that to see what they would recommend for you.
Also, looking through some of your symptoms, it does look like you have a lot of residual symptoms left. One of the things you do have is a lot of cold intolerance, so hopefully the adrenal protocol will support that. The adrenals can be very helpful for stabilizing body temperature. The other thing that sticks out for me is postnasal drip. For some people this could be related to candida or mold, so I'm not sure if that's relevant for you. Congestion and cough could be related to mold exposure as well. I see some digestive issues, joint swelling, tingling, low body temperature, night sweats and nightmares. These could sometimes be related to mold exposure.
