Q: I have some gut infections on my GI-MAP test, how can I address them? I’m submitting my labs for your review.
A: You have symptoms such as bleeding gums, cold hands and feet, congestion, cravings for alcohol, bread and sweets, depression, diarrhea, emotional fatigue, feeling hot, forgetfulness, frequent urination. I will say that frequent urination, emotional issues, craving for alcohol, bread and sweets, and congestion are red flags for mold or yeast. I'm going to have the team send the Mold Protocol. Also hair loss, headache, heat intolerance, irritability, joint pain can, and trouble falling asleep can indicate a mold issue. Low libido, brain fog, migraines, morning fatigue, nervousness, poor dream recall– oftentimes that's a vitamin B6 deficiency and could also be related to mold.
Your adrenal saliva test indicates that you have a low cortisol profile with trouble waking up in the morning. It's kind of low throughout the day, so if you're struggling with fatigue, that could be a part of it. This is something that does improve on the program. In some cases you might need to do deeper work to restore the circadian rhythm if the program doesn't work after a few weeks.
There is a Troubleshooting Cortisol handout in the portal, under the handouts tab, where you can find some additional things you can do to raise your cortisol, including morning sunshine exposure and utilizing licorice root (if you don't have high blood pressure).
Your DHEA seems okay.
Your food sensitivity test came up negative for all these reactive foods. I can't speak to the validity of this test, as I’m not familiar with it, so I'm not exactly sure if their negative is a true negative or not.
It looks like you have very heavy growths of yeast or fungus in your GI tract, which would correlate with a lot of your symptoms. Fluconazole is an antifungal medication you can get from your doctor that may be helpful for that, especially considering the size of the overgrowth because it looks like you've got a lot of that in your system.
We focus a lot on yeast and Candida in the Gut Recovery Program. This type of overgrowth and other pathogens respond really well to Saccharomyces boulardii, which we take during the program.
The lysozyme in the stool is elevated and can indicate GI inflammation. Chymotrypsin is elevated as well. In some cases this can indicate diarrhea as well as inflammatory bowel disease. I'm not sure if that's relevant for your history. I have an Inflammation Protocol from the Gut Recovery Program that I'm going to have the team send to you.
Based on the high levels of yeast overgrowth, I would also look into whether your current home environment might be moldy or not, just because sometimes people have high levels of yeast because of mold exposure. And then I would also look into whether or not you have a parasitic infection because that can actually shift your microbiome to be more yeast predominant.
