A: What I've found, and what clinical experience and science have shown, is that people with advanced levels of adrenal dysfunction tend to have a difficult time with aerobic exercise. They find it extremely draining. So, people with adrenal issues in advanced stages actually need to focus more on muscle building exercise.
Aerobic exercise, like running or biking, is catabolic in nature, which means that it breaks down your body and your muscles further. Instead, we're trying to get to an anabolic state where your body is getting built up. Therefore, the type of exercise I would consider doing would be things like lifting weights, light walking, stretching, and doing yoga.
And then as a rule of thumb, you want to make sure that the type of exercise you're doing meets your current levels of health, and that you don't push yourself too far. If you do a certain exercise routine, you should be able to do it one more time without feeling exhausted. If you find that your exercise is draining, that's generally a good indication that it's too much or the wrong type of exercise for you. You should do the type of exercise that makes you feel more energetic. Generally, for people in the early adrenal fatigue stages, that's gonna be more like yoga, weightlifting, light walking and stretching.
As your adrenals heal, you're gonna be able to tolerate more exercise. So, keep working on yourself, and if today you could only do 15 minutes of yoga before getting tired, then maybe next week you'll be able to do 20 minutes, and just keep building on that. Something that can really, really help is making sure that you have enough electrolytes. I have an Electrolyte Blend that we utilize in this program. A lot of the research has shown that it helps people recover after athletic endeavors, so that they have a better recovery time, their muscles hurt less, so on and so forth. One of the ingredients it includes is D-ribose, which is an excellent energy booster. It supports the health of our mitochondria. I jokingly say that for people with adrenal fatigue everyday tasks feel like running a marathon, so the electrolytes can really, really help improve your endurance of everyday tasks and work with this program. You're going to see that your energy levels are going to be restored and revitalized, and you're going to start feeling better and better.
