A: Benadryl could cause palpitations because if you are dehydrated, that can cause you to have palpitations and Benadryl can be very dehydrating. So, this could be an adverse reaction to Benadryl and being dehydrated as well.
As far as weaning off of Benadryl, I would encourage you to go through the recommendations in this program, utilizing all of the information. Magnesium can be very helpful for sleep, for example. Balancing your adrenals can be very helpful for sleep. We focus on that in the program. If you are still struggling with sleep by week five, I have a Symptom Solution Guide that goes deeper into sleep for some rare situations that prevent people from getting sleep (see page 56). One of them might actually be histamine issues. You're using Benadryl, which is an antihistamine, so perhaps you have high levels of histamine in the body. Using things like P5P can help break down the histamine and rebalance your levels of histamine in the body, and it may help get your body more regulated and sleep better.
I encourage you to read my article on histamines and my article about insomnia.
I would also recommend working on your daily habits first, making sure you're exposed to plenty of sunlight and taking your supplements to support good energy throughout the day. Then you’ll start to wean off of the Benadryl.
