A: For the purposes of the Adrenal Transformation Program, we exclude every bit of dairy because it is such a common reactive food for people with Hashimoto's.
Some people have been very skeptical of dairy being a big issue, especially if they've only had small amounts of it. I've had some people say, well I only use it in my coffee as a little bit of creamer or just a little bit of bulletproof coffee with my butter, or even ghee. However, some people are sensitive to even small amounts of dairy protein or even dairy fat.
During the program, do exclude ghee. In my experience, issues with dairy can actually be caused by a carnitine deficiency. So, once you get more carnitine on board, hopefully you'll actually be able to tolerate dairy better. Ghee is one of the places to start before any other kind of dairy products if you are trying to introduce dairy back.
Generally, it is recommended to stay off dairy indefinitely, however, I’m working on reversing dairy sensitivity, so be sure to stay on Thyroid Pharmacist's email list for updates.
