A: In this program, we will be following the Root Cause Paleo Diet, which is animal protein-based. This diet excludes the most common reactive foods for people with Hashimoto's: grains, dairy, soy, legumes (except for green beans and pea protein), sugar, caffeine, alcohol, and processed foods. These foods will be replaced with organic fruits, vegetables, high-quality meats, eggs, nuts, and seeds. To make the diet more vegetarian-friendly, you may want to focus on eggs, nuts, seeds and pea protein powder. However, I advise against any soy-based “mock meat” products, as soy is a common food sensitivity for those with Hashimoto’s.
